Best Way To Take A Dab

If you've heard of dabbing, you probably know that many people swear by it and even prefer it to traditional smoking methods. Dabbing gives a much stronger and longer-lasting high (like way longer) so it's no wonder so many people favor it. The drawback to dabbing is that it is more difficult than other smoking methods and requires more knowledge- not only is the equipment different, but you will need to learn about each concentrate you smoke to ensure you get the most out of it. This guide will go over everything you need to know about how to dab effectively.

What is a Dab?

Dabs are a somewhat new way of smoking marijuana, specifically, dabs are concentrated hash. Dabs/concentrates come in many different forms such as wax, oils, shatter, budder, and more. Wax is the most popular, but all concentrates can make for a good time and have different pros and cons. There are a few ways to smoke dabs, with the best method being a dab rig. A dab rig is like a bong, but it has fewer percolators and contains a dab nail to vaporize concentrates. A dab rig is not the only way to smoke dabs, however, and while they're efficient, they require a lot of equipment and have a bit of a learning curve that other mechanisms don’t.

How Do Concentrates Make You Feel

Concentrates can vary in feeling depending on which concentrate you choose but they are all stronger than standard marijuana. In fact, that would be an understatement, concentrates are way more intense than standard marijuana. For starters, you will experience your high all at once rather than gradually getting higher. On top of this, instead of being high for 1-3 hours like you are used to, you will be high for the entire day or close to it. Lastly, keep in mind that you will feel the effects of concentrates as soon as you smoke them, it will not take you any time to feel the effects. Because concentrates are so strong, it's best to start small and increase from there.

How to Smoke Dabs with a Dab Rig

Dab rigs are the best and most efficient way to smoke dabs but using them can be daunting for beginners. To get started you will need all the right equipment: dab rig, nail, carb cap, butane torch, a tool to handle the concentrates, and the actual concentrate. Without getting into the details (you can find those here), you dab by heating the nail, placing your concentrate on the nail, and then inhaling. Heating to the right temperature is a learning process and the most difficult part of dabbing but it's not too bad. A dab rig is definitely a more involved and difficult way to smoke your concentrates at first, but the beginning struggle is nothing compared to the lifelong bliss a dab rig will bring.

Using a Dab Pen

A dab pen is just like a vape pen, it is a small handheld device for smoking dabs. Just like a dab rig is the bong of concentrates, the dab pen is the vape pen of concentrates. All the same pros and cons of using a vape pen will apply to a dab pen. To work a dab pen just place your dab in the chamber with the heating coil hit and hit the heat button. After hitting the button and waiting a few seconds just inhale the vapors and you'll be high as a kite in no time.

Smoking Dab in a Bowl

If you don't have a dab rig it's not the end of the world, you can still smoke concentrates with a bowl. That being said, there are a few extra steps you'll need to take if you choose to smoke concentrates with this method. First, you'll need to cover your bowl almost entirely with dry herb. This is so that your dab is not overwhelmed by the flame, your dab should not ever be directly exposed to a flame, otherwise it will burn and create too much smoke. After you place down the dry herb, place your dab and then more dry herb on top of it. That’s all there is to it, use your bowl like normal but make sure to surround your dab with dry herb. Smoking dab in a bowl isn't recommended, but if you want to smoke concentrates in a pinch it can work.

Smoking Dab in a Joint

A joint can be an easy and great way to enjoy concentrates. It's a good thing too because some people just love joints and can't do without them. If that's you then you go ahead and try throwing some dab in there, it'll give you a stronger high that you might enjoy more than your normal blunts. Smoking dab in a blunt is easy because all you do is put your concentrate in the middle of the rolling paper. It's important though to make sure your concentrate is in the middle rather than the ends of the rolling paper. After your dab is nice and cozy in the middle of the paper, surround it with weed on both sides. Doing this makes sure that your concentrate does not come in direct contact with a flame (which is a no-go).

Vaping with Dab

Another way to smoke dabs is in a vaporizer. Vaporizers are similar to vape pens in that they heat your concentrates to the point of vapor, duh! The main difference between vaporizers and vape pens is their shape/size. A vaporizer is larger than a pen, this makes it able to have a few more features and overall perform better. For example, vaporizers have a better heating system which creates smoother and easier hits. The main downside of a vaporizer compared to a pen is they are less portable. That isn’t to say they aren’t portable though, because they are still quite small and easy to travel with, they just don’t fit in your pocket. Overall, vaporizers are extremely similar to vape pens and that means they are a perfectly fine way to smoke your oils and waxes.

How to Store Cannabis Concentrates

Storing cannabis correctly is always important if you care to savor the potency and taste of your goods, this is especially the case with concentrates. Concentrates need to be kept in a dark and cool space, away from light and direct heat. Preferably, they should also be kept away from overly moist areas. Other than the location, the type of container you use will be more important for concentrates. This is because concentrates can be hard to handle (especially at first), so it’s a smart idea to put your concentrate in a container that will make handling as easy as possible. What container you need will depend on the specific concentrate. Budder, for example, is best scooped out of a glass jar while shatter would be impossible to get out of a glass jar. It’s not difficult to store your concentrates properly and it can make a world of difference so just do it!
